I know as a parent all we want is just a few nice pictures of our children. Sometimes you just look at your kid and are like "Come On! Just ONE PICTURE, Pleaseee smile or stay put!" Sound fimilar? Well.... YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! This is actually really common, but I am here to tell you it gets better as they get older and of course until then here are a few tips for your next session.
1. Book your sessions keeping in mind when nap time is. The worst thing to do is to bring a sleepy child to a shoot. So if your child naps at 12. Book your session 3 hours before nap time. If you rather wait til after nap time, thats fine just don't wake him/her out of their nap for a shoot.
2. Make sure your child is fed and content. We as adults get cranky when we start feeling hungry, children are no different, we just know how to handle it better.
3. Bring Snacks- YES! Bring your child's favorite snacks. NOTHING messy of course! Maybe some fruit gummies, or puffs, something small that can be as a reward for doing a great job at smiling and posing.
4. Does your child have a favorite song that she/he loves to dance too? GREAT! Make sure you have it downloaded and onto a photo shoot playlist, ready to bust some moves.
5. Bring your child's favorite toy, rattle, or blanket. Sometimes it's best to add a personal touch to your child's photos to make him/her more comfortable and relaxed.
6. Stay calm and relax, remember to have fun. Make your child laugh after all YOU know what makes him/her smile YOU have all the tricks up your sleeve so have them ready! Some children like to see thier parents make funny faces, some like to see them dance or maybe sing? Maybe a little game of peek-a-boo. Next time you make your child laugh or smile take a mental note of it so when its time to smile you know exactly what to do.

My first time having my photos being displayed at a group photo exhibit! I'm so excited and proud of myself! This is such a big step for me. It is such a great accomplishment to be able to display my photos that I create for my clients and share it with the rest of the world and get recognition for it. I give my all to each photo session that I have and this proves it! I will post the featured photos in the exhibit in my next post.

On my free time I like to give my undivided attention to my daughter and my husband On these days I keep my Camera at home to be able to spend some quality time with them. Sometimes there are moments that I see something that catches my eye and although I leave my Camera at home when spending time with my family, I at least have the knowledge of lighting and composition to be able to take a great photo with my iPhone. It's moments like these where you use your technique and patience of a photographer to create an amazing photo with what you have at hand.

This weekend we celebrated my husband birthday. For the beginning of the celebration we decided to go kayaking to Graveyard Ships. Now this was my very first time kayaking so I was very excited! The instructor gave us a quick lesson on the do's and don'ts before we began our journey. Throughout our journey we came across a few boats and ships that were passing by us of course I was a little afraid because I was still getting the hang of trying to paddle in a straight line! Haha! There would be times where I'm all the way to the left or all the way to the right. It took my husband and I a while to get totally in sync. Once we arrived to our destination we board along one of the abandoned ships and WOW it was such an amazing sight. Half the boat was under water and the other half was above the water. We we able to explore the abandoned ship. There were holes in the middle of the walkway that we had to be cautious of. From the top of the ship we were able to see inside and from inside we were able to see above the ship and the water below it. We discover a nest on the very top of the ship. We also discovered a bunch of bones still unaware of what animal they were from. The ship had doors, glass and seats spread out on the ground among the ship wreck. It was great to photograph your not so ordinary ship! After an hour of exploration we made our trip back to land. It was much faster getting back then it was coming! My husband and I found our sync groove and we were able to make it back without feeling exhausted!

When preparing to go kayaking with your camera always bring a waterproof bag! You can store your camera, snacks and water! Yes make sure you bring a water bottle you will need to hydrate for energy especially if it's hot out. Also wear a bathing suit or anything you don't mind getting wet! You will definitely get wet I got soaked! Wearing water shoes is a MUST unless you have sneakers and socks that you don't mind get wet and muddy. I didn't wear my water shoes and I really wish I did.

I had the opportunity to visit two farms this semester. Both the traditional and also the Organic Valley farm. It was a very interesting day I had. On the first farm it rained on us so we were stuck in the for about 3 hours. During that time period we got to witness a Mama Cow beginning to give birth, we also had the opportunity to see how the cows are milked and even got to sample the milk. In the next farm the Organic Milk Farm, we were able to witness a difference in both farms. In the first farm the cows seem to be always inside the barn. In the organic farm the cows were free to roam the open land that belong to them, the farmers then will have the dogs lure them back to the barn to get milked all in all it was an experience like never before.
Tips and Links:
Always prepare for the weather and the environment you will be shooting in. For the farm environment wear comfortable boots you don't mind getting muddy and dirty or rain boots! Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to get messy and always bring an extra change of clothes and shoes and trash bags to put your wet and dirty clothes in. Also always bring along a water proof bag for your camera just in case you get stuck in a barn for three hours with your camera due to the weather.

It always amazes me the unique and original photographs I stumble upon when I visit a photo exhibit. Our photojournalism professor took us to the ICP (International Center Of Photography Museum) Which was show casing some of the Magnum photographers photographs. Although each Magnum photographer have their own style and taste they all share one thing in common which is the ability to share our world’s events by story telling through their original photojournalism background. When I entered the museum the first thing that sparked my interest was the family portraits that were displayed. Since I myself am a family photographer it was nice to find some family portraits being displayed. As I continued my journey through the museum I stumbled upon what I first thought was a slot machine… But then I notice that slot machine was used as a projector to show case a variety of images. With every pull you would view a new set of images projected on the screen. I found it so amazing! I love how creative the world has become when it comes to showcasing our photographs.
